Pasta Bolognese Recipe

This is a great base for lots of recipes. I always make a large quantity so that I can freeze a batch. I used to add wine to this recipe just after the tomato puree but I don’t think it is missed. This is an ideal dish for babies from around 9-months-old. Prep time: 30 mins, cooking time: 2 hours Feeds: 8 adult servings, a bunch of baby servings so plenty to go in the freezer Ingredients 1kg lean Mince Beef 2 small-medium sized onions 2 carrots 2 sticks of celery 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped 2 x 400g...

This was so much easier to make than I expected! This sauce can make a few recipes – with pasta one evening and then served on bread with salmon the next. I first remember my Best-Friend’s Mum making this when I was about six  - I always insisted on staying for dinner as the smell of it cooking under the grill was irresistible! Prep and cooking time: Max 25 minutes  Feeds: one adult and one baby Ingredients 140g pasta 260ml milk 30g plain flour Desert spoon of Philidelphia  tsp of wholegrain mustard* (optional) 1 Apple 30g grated cheese Several cornflakes (yes, you read that correctly)...

Halloween Treats

Halloween Treats

These Halloween treats are really aimed for mums rather than the babies themselves! I used to love meeting up with my friends during maternity leave, having a good natter, asking questions, you know, the usual about sleeping habits, food, whether they are sitting up yet whilst drinking tea and eating cake!   Granny’s ghost cakes The cake ingredients belong to my mum's recipe - they are really simple, quick to do but always fluffy and light. So I just use cookbooks for creative inspiration. Cake ingredients 6 oz self-raising flour 1.5 tps baking powder 6 oz sugar 6 oz Butter/Margarine (‘Vitalite’...

Pumpkin soup

Pumpkin soup

Getting your kids onto soup early is a great idea, because it's so versatile. Warming on a winters' day, it gives you the opportunity to use up any leftover veg and add if you add pulses (e.g. red lentils) or meat it becomes a hearty meal. Yes, it can be messy with children who've only just started to wean but make it thick and give them bread to dip in it and it could become a staple lunchtime meal. I tend to blend all my soups so it doesn't matter too much how finely I chop the veg. If you want a chunky soup,...
